Professor N. Christine Brookes is Professor of French in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Central Michigan University. She received her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University in 2004. Her research and teaching interests include border and transnational studies, Franco-Mexican relations, Franco-Russian relations, history of print culture, the Third Republic, translation, and war studies. Her book, The French Face of Nathaniel Hawthorne: Monsieur de l’Aubépine & his Second-Empire Critics (Ohio UP, 2011) was co-written with Michael W. Anesko (Penn State, English).
