Zachary R. Hagins

Professor Zachary R. Hagins is Assistant Professor of French in the Department of World Languages and an associate faculty member in the Anderson Institute of Race and Ethnicity at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He received his Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University in 2014. His research focuses on intersections of visual culture, national identity and (un)belonging, and post-migratory populations of Maghrebi and sub-Saharan descent in the French Republic. He is currently working on a monograph examining socially engaged photography as a lens for understanding how contemporary France’s post-migratory populations negotiate political, social, and cultural obstacles in their everyday lives.
