Professor Andrew Stafford is Assistant Professor of French at Lycoming College. He received his Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University in 2016. His research focuses primarily on how gender identity is represented as a creative and imaginative process in 19th-Century French literature. His current work discusses the development of a course for native speakers of French and examines the relationship between language, voice, and identity. He is also working with a student researcher on a project entitled “Teaching Gender Neutral Expression in Gendered Languages” that investigates ways of being inclusive of non-binary gender identities in the French language classroom.
