Laura Call

Laura Call is an ABD student in French Literature. She completed her B.A. in Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia.  After working as a lab technician on stream ecology, she decided to pursue a second B.A. in French at Clemson University while also studying Italian.  Her time at Clemson included a summer exchange in Rome and a semester-long exchange at l’Université de Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium.  After earning an M.A. from Penn State in French Linguistics in 2008, she taught English at l’Université Lumière Lyon 2. When she returned in 2009, she began studying 20th- and 21st-century French Literature.  Her dissertation research includes 21st-century French Self-Writing and Ecocritical Theories, especially those related to waste.  While writing at home in Raleigh, North Carolina, Laura also cares for her two young children.
