Diplomatic Corps Visit Promotes French Fellowships at Penn State

On October 22, Penn State University had the honor of hosting representatives from the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. for a special event aimed at fostering international academic exchange. Laurence Menager and Sophie Marc presented and promoted the prestigious Chateaubriand Fellowship, which offers support for graduate students conducting research in France, and introduced the newly launched Lafayette Fellowship, designed to deepen academic collaboration between French and American institutions. Their presentation emphasized the value of cross-cultural engagement and the opportunities these fellowships provide for immersive research and professional development.

The event was well attended by French and Francophone Studies majors, graduate students, and faculty, and reinforced the importance of global academic networks and collaboration. Students interested in these fellowships can find more information here and here.
